Day 5 – A photo of yourself two years ago.

This photo was taken in March 2008, two days after we had gotten married(yeah coming up to 3 years already, it's gone fast!). Yes we were away on our honeymoon and yes, we had a little tag along by the name of Owen.

We didn't go far, just a few hours down south. My stepdaughter had been up for our wedding(she lives about 2 hours south of Perth) and we had to drive her back down the day after our wedding, so we booked in a couple of nights just further out from where she lives at a place called Bunker Bay.

The resort was beautiful, I wish I had taken photos of the room and the views and it had a price tag to reflect that(I think it was around $250p/n). The place even has its own private beach. Actually, now that I've started thinking about it, I wouldn't mind getting away for a weekend - maybe on our wedding anniversary(if the hubby has RDO's of course).

I just really love this picture because it shows how happy we are :) And at that time we had no idea we had just conceived another beautiful little boy!

What has changed in 2 years you ask? Well, I'm probably a bit more plump and not as well groomed(who has time to get to the hairdresser, let alone get an eyebrow wax with 5 kids in tow?!). The hubby has lost some hair and is a bit more grey. As for the baby boy...well can you believe in 3 months time he will be off to his first day of school?

PS. And WOW does Tahnee look like Owen or what?!

Day 4 – Your favourite photograph of your best friend.

Do I really have to pick just one? You see I have a few different groups of friends. There's my friends from my 'young mums' group, mums from the kids school, my pre-baby days friends, work friends, online friends. I would say that I do have a best friend in each circle. So you can see why I find it hard to pick one.

There is one mama who I want to tell you about, who is amazing and I luff her to bits. We lost touch a little when I moved to the country but when I came back it was like I had never left. She is the most wonderful friend :) So this is the picture that I see every night on MSN messenger and we chat and have a game or two of scrabble...

Michelle is a mama to two gorgeous kiddies, her son is Jayden's best mate(you would not believe the stroke of luck we had that his class had room for Jayden to join it when we moved back) and her daughter is the same age as Bailey. The four kids do karate classes almost every day after school, excellent for us as we get to gasbag for a whole hour.

Life has dealt her a few major obstacles, yet she still has such a positive outlook on things. We are ALWAYS sitting outside of the kids classroom and laughing ourselves stupid. She will happily hold or chase one of my littlies(usually if I'm doing one, she is doing the other! haha). And I know if I ever need a favour, she will help me if I can and I would do just about anything for her and her kids too. I trust her to look after my kids, she just has so much love that she even loves the little buggers! Lol.

She is an awesome, awesome person to have in your life, I am so lucky to be able to call her my friend. Here's to many more years of friendship and fun to come.

Day 3 – Your idea of the perfect first date.

Hmm, do you know how long it has been since I've been on a date? Way way too long to be honest. Unless it counts when you have a baby in tow? I didn't think so.

So my idea of the perfect first date...well I believe that the hubby and I have had the most perfect first date. Our first date lasted a whole day. We got up at the crack of dawn and drove down south to Margaret River(approx 3 hours from Perth). We spent the whole day going to different wineries, and looking back I should have kept a bottle of wine that I had bought but I ended up drinking it all! We visited the chocolate factory and took a walk on the beach. It was AMAZING. Just the two of us exploring one of the most beautiful country towns around.

I would love to do it again, but it won't be until the littlies are much older!

Day 2 – A photo of something you ate today.

This is embarrassing but this is the first meal that I haven't had on the run today, so I though I'd better make it count and cook something that was healthy. Granted, the veges were frozen, but hey veges are veges.

It's actually the start of a lifestyle change for us, the hubby and I decided we really  need to buckle down on what we're putting in our mouths. We don't eat that unhealthy I suppose, but it's just how much we eat and the amount of junky snacks in the house need to be eliminated. I am stuck at my pre-baby weight, but I was already overweight as it is, so it would be nice to see the back of the 80-something-kg where I have been hanging for the last 5 or 6 years.

So there is a few things I will be starting in the next few days, you can be sure that I'll be blogging all about it.

BTW, dinner didn't look like much, but it was actually really yum!

Day 1 – A photo of yourself and a description of how your day was.

My day today has been pretty average. It was really muggy during the night, and hubby and Tahnee kept it in turns to keep me up all night(hubby is sick so was snoring like a chainsaw and Tahnee is also sick and kept waking and crying - she sleeps in her cot which is sidecar to the bed). Black clouds have hung around all day long but alas, still no rain. I wish it would just pour down so that the mugginess would just bugger off.

I dropped the little boys off to daycare(and they both cried :( ). Then carted my hubby down to the doctor as he woke up with no voice. I put it down to the chainsaw like snoring that went on last night, but the Doc reckons he has laryngitis. So off to the pharmacy we went for antibiotics - ones that aren't penicillin because the Hubby is allergic to that.

Then we came home and I did the general cleaning up, exciting I know. I'm excited that I have days where I can do the cleaning without toddlers making a mess in my wake! My sister in law also called in for a visit(and thank god she didn't use the toilet because I hadn't gotten around to cleaning that yet! I have to give it a good clean down DAILY, with 2 boys and a little boy who is toilet training I bet you could imagine the state of it!). So yeah, just an ordinary day...

Until I got to school in the afternoon and found out one of the mums I know lost her 4 month old baby girl on the weekend. I am still thinking about her now, she is so close to Tahnee's age and I cannot imagine how she must be feeling. It was an accident at home and I know they must be feeling so terrible. My heart really goes out to the family. RIP baby girl.

Usually, we go to karate after school. Today we came home because Tahnee was under the weather. Hubby and I sat outside want watched the kids ride their bikes around the culdesac and then went next door for dinner with the inlaws.

Doesn't sound like much but gee I'm exhausted!

When life gets in the way...

There's no time for blogging!

Things have just been a bit of a blur lately. The same routine of getting up, breakfast, feeding baby, going to school, cleaning, going back to school, cooking, cleaning...you know the drill. By the time the kids go to bed I am absolutely exhausted that the mere thought of putting together a blog post makes me fall asleep.

So this is just a catch up post on what's happening in our family.

The hubby has been in his new job for 3 weeks and he is loving it. But we never see him because he gets home as we're all getting up and he leaves before we have dinner. On the other hand, him actually having days off is awesome. We get to go out and do family stuff without having to be back in time to open the pub, etc. He's not as stressed out because he can get away from work and it doesn't take over our family life! He's now on 4 days off and then onto day shift(9.30am to 6pm) for two weeks.

Jayden and Bailey are back at their old school that they were at before we moved out to the pub. They have settled in really well, though I think Jayden feels a bit out of the loop trying to get back in with his old buddies who have stayed friends while we were gone. He doesn't seem to phased about it, so it's probably me just being a worry wart mum. Anyhow, we've only been at school 2 weeks and he's already going to a birthday party this afternoon.

Owen and Jye have started at daycare, just 2 days a week. It was more for Owen's benefit - he starts school 2 days a week next year and I wanted him to get use to being away from me and having the structure of school. He started off great on Thursday - hopped on the bikes and waved goodbye. Jye on the otherhand, he screamed and bawled when I left(and yes, I bawled in the car all the way home)! So I turned up at 1pm to find Jye waking up from a nap and all happy and Owen sitting in the room sobbing his little heart out!!

My heart broke into a thousand pieces. He was fine up until the other kids lay down for a nap and he hasn't had a day nap in god knows how long. I'm not sure what triggered it, I think that perhaps he thought that they didn't get to go home and had to stay at daycare forever...I'm not sure, but he was ok after a cuddle with me and I hadn't even pulled out of the car park when he started arking up because he didn't want to leave! They go back on Tuesday so hopefully they will settle better.

Jye is still my little devil. I am so glad that I gave him such a short name, you have no idea how much I say his name! I was having trouble getting him to go to bed, both during the day and at night. We moved him into a toddler bed when we got to the new place and a few days ago I put a kiddie gate up at his door so he couldn't get out and wander around. So far so good, he's been going to sleep. But sheesh, I was at my wits end!

And Tahnee. My little baby girl. She's just about 6 months old now and my goodness is she becoming her own little person! She is rolling all over the place and we always seem to have to rescue her from under the couch or the coffee table as she favours rolling in one direction. It's funny though because as soon as you place her on the floor, she rolls over. She's got two little toothy pegs and has been swiping food off my place and chewing on it. We plan to follow the baby led weaning principles and she has stated exploring the food on my plate(you should have seen her with broccoli, she held the stalk and chewed off the top!).

Life is chaotic but I am loving every second of it! I'm so blessed to have my beautiful children :)
